Stars and fans have been waiting for the Met Gala for two years – only apparently not Dua Lipa. The singer has canceled her participation in the event. She would rather concentrate on her new career as an actress.
Pop star Dua Lipa (26) obviously takes her new career as an actress very seriously: Now she has even canceled her participation in this year’s Met Gala in order to be able to concentrate fully on her acting debut, as “TMZ” reports.
Accordingly, she was one of a number of high-ranking celebrities who were invited to the famous ball in New York City – but turned down the invitation because of her work on the action thriller “Argylle”.
What we know about “Argylle”
With her first film role, Dua Lipa is at the side of Hollywood greats such as Samuel L. Jackson (72), Bryan Cranston (65), Bryce Dallas Howard (40) and Catherine O’Hara (67). Filming, directed by Matthew Vaughn, 50, is currently taking place in the UK.
The film is about one of the “world’s greatest spies” who is looking for adventures all over the world. The screenplay was penned by Jason Fuchs (35), who was also involved in the scripts for “Ice Age 4 – Fully Moved”, “Pan” and “Wonder Woman”.
These stars come to the Met Gala
The Met Gala will be held on Monday, September 13th. After the prestigious event had to be canceled due to the corona pandemic 2020, big names have registered again this time, including Beyoncé (39), Kim Kardashian West (40), Jennifer Lopez (52), Rihanna (33) and Harry Styles (27) – to name just a few.
The motto of the event this year is: “American Independence”. The gala will not only generate a large part of the financial resources of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met) in New York. They also serve as the opening of a two-part exhibition on American fashion this time.
